Sodium Benzoate: mild preservative for skin care

Sodium Benzoate (the salt of benzoic acid) is a mild preservative that is particularly effective against the proliferation of fungi in cosmetic products.

However, unlike other preservatives, Sodium Benzoate cannot be used alone for preservation. That's why you'll often see it in combination with other preservatives. It's often combined with Potassium Sorbate (potassium salt) .
