What is inulin?
Inulin is a probiotic - both in the diet and for the skin. It is a naturally occurring fructose polysaccharide found in the roots and rhizomes of various plants, such as chicory. It can be used in the diet as a healthy sugar alternative, but is much less sweet than sugar.
Inulin: Effects on the Skin
In skin care, inulin is useful in terms of its prebiotic activity . Inulin ensures that friendly microorganisms spread and gives harmful bacteria space to multiply. In the long term, this ensures a strong skin microbiome and a resilient acid mantle for the skin.
Inulin also has a moisturizing effect.
