What is panthenol?

Panthenol , also called provitamin B5, is a precursor of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid). It occurs naturally in animal and plant cells and is often used in skin care products.

Effect of Panthenol

  • Moisturizing: Panthenol moisturizes the skin by drawing water into the top layer of skin (stratum corneum). At the same time, it ensures that the stratum corneum is well moisturized and can produce sufficient lipids. Both of these not only make the skin firmer and tighter, but also strengthen the skin barrier and make the skin more resistant to inflammation and stress.
  • Anti-inflammatory: Panthenol is particularly effective when the skin is stressed due to its anti-inflammatory effect. It can therefore also help to reduce redness.
  • Wound healing: Panthenol stimulates the growth of fibroblasts and thus has a wound healing effect. Fibroblasts are cells in the skin that produce skin-tightening collagen.
  • Antipruritic: It can relieve itching and burning of the skin.
  • Soothing: It soothes irritations caused by skin stressors such as fragrances, drying preservatives and also the drying effects of chemical sunscreen filters.

Who is Panthenol suitable for?

Panthenol can be helpful for a variety of skin problems because it moisturizes the skin, reduces inflammation and promotes wound healing.

Panthenol can relieve the symptoms of neurodermatitis such as itching, redness and dryness.

At the same time, panthenol can reduce inflammation and redness of the skin caused by rosacea , acne , sunburn or allergies . And it can speed up the healing of pimples.
