What is white tea?

White tea has similar skin-friendly properties to green tea . However, it has even more antioxidants.

White tea, green tea, and black tea are all derived from the same tea plant – Camellia sinensis . The only difference between the various types of tea lies in their processing. And it is precisely this processing that alters the composition of their active ingredients.

White tea: cultivation and processing

White tea is made from the young leaves and closed buds of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). The leaves are withered at 25-26°C in baskets or on withering mats. They are then dried again at 100-130°C and subsequently a second time at 130°C. The harvesting process for white tea is extremely labor-intensive. This short and gentle processing preserves a large proportion of the vitamins and nutrients. As a result, white tea is even richer in antioxidants than green tea. The highest quality white tea is Silver Needle tea.
